A vegetarian Indian restaurant chain has plans to open at a former Wetherspoon pub.
The New Moon pub in Kenton Park Parade permanently closed in 2020, due to “damage to the pub” during the lockdown period when the hospitality sector was forced to shut.
The property has remained vacant since its closure, but plans to replace the watering hole with a popular Indian restaurant have progressed.
Saravanaa Bhavan, which has seven other branches in London - including Harrow, Wembley, Leicester Square and Ilford – says it will be opening its new branch soon.
The restaurant said: “Get ready for a delectable journey as we bring the flavours of India to Kingsbury, London.
“A brand new Saravanaa Bhavan restaurant is opening its doors soon!”
Despite opening in the heart of Kenton, the branch is promoted as “near Kingsbury”.
According to the Saravanaa Bhavan website, there are over 100 branches across the globe – including eateries in Dubai, Paris, New York City, Toronto and more.
A description online reads: “The legacy came into existence with P. Rajagopal who started his journey with a tiny grocery shop on the outskirts of Chennai.
“In 1992, the Rajagopal travelled to Singapore where he drew his inspiration from multinational fast food joints like McDonald’s and used them as models for his own vision.”
