New homes are due to be built near Brent Cross West, the first since the station opened.

Developer Chase New Homes has secured planning permission to build 251 new homes close to the new mainline station, which connects commuters to central London in just 12 minutes.

Brent Cross West was opened in December last year, with services operated by Thameslink now stopping at the station.

There will be 38 affordable homes within the new housing scheme, which will be built on the former P. B. Donoghue industrial site in Claremont Road, Cricklewood.

The three blocks will consist of one to three-bed flats, all with private outdoor space in the form of terraces or balconies.

Property finance firm Close Brothers said it has made available £48 million for the scheme on a loan basis, if required.

Some 6,700 new homes are expected to be built as part of the Brent Cross regeneration programme.

Green areas, as well as retail and arts space are expected to be created alongside new housing schemes.
