Three people have been charged after a pitch invasion during the Champions League Final at Wembley Stadium.

Metropolitan Police said they made 53 arrests at Saturday’s final (June 1) between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

A large number of these were made over attempts by fans to try to force their way into the stadium, while the others were over a pitch invasion.

Three people have now been charged with going onto the playing area of a football match contrary to the Football (Offences) Act 1991.

The three people charged are as follows:

  • Yevhenii Lubnenko, 29, of no fixed address, who will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today (June 3)
  • David Carneckij, 28, of Walworth Road, Walworth, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on July 10
  • A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear at Highbury Corner Youth Court on June 24

Police have said enquiries continue into two other people arrested in connection with the same incident.
