ERNEST ALBERT BOWLER

ERNEST ALBERT BOWLER died peacefully on Friday 9 May aged 95. He was the dearly loved husband of Joan, who died in 2005, a father of three, grandfather of seven and had eleven great grandchildren. In early life Ernie might have played professional football had war not intervened. He served with distinction on the Arctic convoys and also in the Mediterranean. He was mentioned in despatches. Ernie was a proficient shorthand typist and fine pianist. In later life he enjoyed a long retirement tending his allotment in Ravensbourne Road, where he served as committee secretary for many years, and listening to music. He will be sadly missed by all his family. Ernies funeral will be held on Thursday 29 May at 1.45pm in Hither Green Crematorium. Friends are very welcome. Family flowers only please.
