Multiple people in the vehicle that didn’t stop fled the scene on foot, while a man in the second car was taken to hospital as a precaution.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "A short time later, a male was seen close to tracks before being struck by a train close to East Acton Underground Station. He has been pronounced dead at the scene."
The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and work is taking place to identify the man and inform the next of kin, the Met has said.
Du Cane Road remains shut both ways today (August 22) between Wood Lane and Old Oak Common Lane.
The incident took place outside Wormwood Scrubs prison in White City. Although it's outside of the Brent and Kilburn area, motorists have been warned of traffic given its proximity to Harlesden.
A detour operation is in place for some buses including the 7, 70, 72, 272 and 283. Traffic is coping well.
Enquiries into the circumstances continue.
