Russell Brand performed in Wembley just hours after allegations of rape and sexual assault against him were reported.
The 48-year-old comedian arrived late for his show at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre yesterday evening (September 16).
Four woman have alleged sexual assaults between 2006 and 2013, when the comedian was at the height of his fame. He denies all allegations.
The set came on the day that a joint investigation by The Times, The Sunday Times and Channel 4 Dispatches revealed the accusations against Brand.
Brand took to social media yesterday to deny the allegations against him, saying in a video: “Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.”
According to PA Media, the 48-year-old turned up at least 45 minutes late to the sold-out venue, which has a capacity of 2,000 people.
Audience members told the outlet that Brand expressed his love for the crowd, but told them he hoped they “appreciate” that there were certain things he could not talk about during the show.
The comedian reportedly made a swift exit from the venue just before 9.40pm.
His new live comedy show, Russell Brand Bipolarisation, has three more dates left in September.
