Singers who formed Wembley’s London Collective community choir online during lockdown are staging four days of gospel-inspired songs just a stone’s throw from St Paul’s Cathedral.
They perform “a gospel twist” on 1980s soul numbers over four nights at the European Missions conference at Leonardo Royal Hotel in Godliman Street, off St Paul’s Churchyard.
“Hundreds of people have already signed up for the event,” London Collective’s revealed choir director Luke Snow, a Wembley resident who grew up in Mill Hill. “But there’s still space for many more.”
His choir is on stage in a hall with 1,000 seats starting October 25 around 8pm after the daily conference sessions at the Leonardo Royal.
The London Collective was launched in 2020 during the Covid pandemic when people were “looking for hope and found solace singing in the choir”. It gave its first performance in public on the steps of Wembley Stadium last December, followed by a West End debut in June at the Regent’s Hall.
“It was inspiring, fun and memorable!” recalled Jessica Endonyan, of the London Collective Choir’s West End debut.
Jessica is an award-winning BBC producer and Hendon resident, who now works as a producer for Soldout Collectxve, the organisation behind the London Collective Choir.
The European Missions Conference is from October 26 – October 29 2023. For more about the conference and to buy tickets, please visit: EMC2023
