An “adult gaming centre” could open at the site of a former bank.
Golden Slots (Southern) Ltd has applied to Brent Council for a licence to operate from 169-171 Cricklewood Broadway.
The site was previously used as a Barclays bank until February 2022 and sits at the junction with Chichele Road.
Adult gaming centres are a different planning class to traditional betting shops and typically offer low-stakes slot machines, bingo machines or tablets.
Last year, Brent Council’s planning team refused an application to turn the now vacant bank into an adult gaming centre due to the number of gambling sites already present in the area.
The authority later approved plans to convert the basement and ground floor of the four-storey late Victorian building into a bingo hall.
There are 3 betting shops within 100m – William Hill, Paddy Power and Star Sports.
There is also a Merkur Bingo at 200 Cricklewood Broadway and Admiral Casino at 160 Cricklewood Broadway.
The latest submission states that Golden Slots would surrender its bingo licence if its adult gaming centre application were approved.
It adds that opening hours subject to an application to remove existing planning restrictions would be 24/7.
Four staff members are expected to work at the site – a manager, a security guard and two counter staff.
Comments on the application (number 30828) can be made until March 12.
