A serving police officer has been charged with the strangulation and assault of a woman.
PC Mahad Abdalla, who was attached to a Met unit covering Barnet, Brent and Harrow, was arrested after the alleged off-duty incident on Saturday (March 23).
He was charged yesterday (March 24) with non-fatal strangulation and assault.
PC Abdalla will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said that he has been suspended from duties while an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
They added: “Following the report to police, a woman has been safeguarded.”
