A woman has died after a stabbing in Edgware earlier today.
Police were called to reports of a stabbing in Burnt Oak Broadway just before 12pm today (May 9).
A woman was found at the scene and treated for stab injuries, but died shortly afterwards.
Police have said a crime scene remains in place in the road, and that enquiries are ongoing to inform the woman’s next of kin.
A murder investigation has now been launched. No arrests have been made.
Superintendent Tony Bellis, responsible for policing in Edgware, said: “I understand the shock and concern this very sad incident will cause.
“I want to reassure people it will be investigated by a specialist team of experienced homicide detectives, and we will support them in their work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible.
“Local residents will see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, I would ask the community is patient while officers carry out this vital work.
“If you have any concerns, please speak to an officer or your local policing team.”
Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance all attended the scene.
