A pub that dates back to the late 19th Century has closed its doors for good.
The Masons Arms, in Harrow Road, Kensal Green, stopped serving punters on Wednesday (May 28), a notice on the door reads.
A message left behind said: “Due to unfortunate circumstances, The Masons Arms ceased trading on Wednesday the May 28.
“A massive thank you goes out to all our guests, and we appreciate all your patronage.”
There was no notice that the pub, which dates back to the 19th century, would close, and the announcement shocked many.
Below a Facebook post alerting customers, many expressed how upset they were.
One customer said: “This pub has been one of the foundation bricks of mine and my family’s lives. Three generations of families have used it, we’ve celebrated births, lives, birthdays and weddings there. Will miss it.”
Another commented: “It’s so sad! I met my husband there almost eight years ago and it was a very special place for us.”
Many also recalled their fond memories they spend there with their loved ones and the many Notting Hill Carnival parties held there.
On the website, The Masons Arms wrote: “We’d like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support and patronage over the years.”
