Thick smoke closed roads and caused traffic jams on the North Circular as fire crews tackled a blaze in an industrial estate.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to Adrian Avenue in Cricklewood late this afternoon. London Fire Brigade control officers took the first of 11 calls at 3.50pm
Crews had the fire in an industrial building under control within three hours at 6.13pm.
One of the brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders was used to help fight the fire from above.
AA Traffic News reported that Adrian Avenue was closed and that smoke was blowing across the road on to the M1 Northbound from the A406 North Circular at Staples Corner to the A1 Barnet by-pass at Watford Way.
They said smoke from the fire was causing "queuing traffic".
Crews from Hendon, West Hampstead, Willesden and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
