London is set to be hit by heavy rain across the next two days as the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the region. 

The warnings, covering much of England and and all of Wales at times, are in place from 12pm today (September 22) until 11.59pm on September 23. 

According to the Met Office, the heavy rain "will bring the potential for disruption" to the highlighted regions across both days. 

People in the affected areas are advised that flooding and significant delays and cancellations to public transport services are possible. 

The weather forecaster also shared that there is a "small chance of power cuts" to some homes and businesses. 

Sharing further details on the warning for September 22, the Met Office added: "There is potential right across this highlighted region for some places to see 40-70 mm in 2-3 hours, with a chance that a few places could receive 80-100 mm through the course of the day."

On Monday (September 23), the estimated rainfall has dropped to 30-50mm falling in six hours or less in any part of the highlighted warning area.

In some places, 80-100mm of rain is forecast to fall over a period of twelve to 24 hours however at the time of writing, there is still some uncertainty about which areas will be most impacted.

The latest update from the Met Office does not suggest that London will be the worst hit area of the UK across either day. 

Essex has also been included in the listed affected areas.
